HC Deb 09 March 1955 vol 538 c42W
53. Mr. Dodds

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what action is being taken to develop the tourist industry of Gibraltar by encouraging the provision of more hotel accommodation; if he will bring to the notice of shipping companies and travel agencies the desirability of making greater use of Gibraltar; and if he will see that day tourists are given adequate facilities for changing money on or near the landing quay.

Mr. Hopkinson

The Gibraltar Government are giving every help and encouragement to the improvement of existing hotels and the building of new ones. My right hon. Friend is grateful for the hon. Member's two suggestions in the latter part of his question. Action has been taken on both points and my right hon. Friend has just heard that improved banking facilities will be available.
