48. Mr. G. Jeger

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware of the need for more technical education in Gibraltar; and what action is being taken to provide it.

Mr. Hopkinson

Yes. There is a technical school providing for about 120 boys and provision is being made for improved training in handicraft in secondary schools. A site has recently been bought privately for a new technical school which will ultimately be run in association with the Department of Education.
