§ 103. Captain Orrasked the Assistant Postmaster-General what damage has been caused to the telephone services in Northern Ireland by snow storms and bad weather during the months of January and February; and whether he will make additional capital allocations to aid in making up the leeway which Northern Ireland has suffered from in the provision of telephone services.
§ Mr. GammansOne or two small exchanges were isolated for short periods, but fortunately damage to telephone lines was very small. We have already given Northern Ireland a substantial increase in capital, and propose in 1955–56 to allocate half as much again as in 1953–54.
