HC Deb 09 March 1955 vol 538 c53W
101. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General how many portable coin-box telephones have now been provided throughout the country; how many have been made available for hospitals and what applications have been received for their use; and what is the approximate cost of their installation and the charge made for their use.

Mr. Gammans

These portable coinbox telephones are for use in hospitals only. Fifteen applications have been received, of which four have already been met and the rest are being provided. In addition there have been a number of inquiries. The cost depends on the size of the installation. Standard rentals are charged for the exchange line and for the equipment installed, and the ordinary coin-box fees apply for calls.
