asked the Minister of Defence what machinery exists in his Department for the co-ordination and supervision of the production of the new rifle adopted for use in the British Services.

The Ministry of Defence exercises general co-ordinating functions over the whole field of defence production. The executive responsibility for the production of any particular item of equipment rests with the supply Department concerned, in this case the Ministry of Supply.
