HC Deb 02 March 1955 vol 537 cc277-8W
82. Mr. Langford-Holt

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty, of the types of aircraft to come into service with the Fleet Air Arm since the war, how many have been delivered on time; and which types were received behind schedule.

Commander Noble

The original forecast dates, given long before development has been completed, are very rough estimates which though necessary as targets are liable to be affected by many factors which cannot be assessed at the time. They are apt to be misleading if taken as criteria for judging achievement. In the event none of the forecasts for aircraft introduced since the war has proved correct.
