§ 81. Sir D. Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland, in view of the fact that it has taken his Department over four months to obtain information from the Sutherland County Council in certain cases of housing, what steps he is taking in the public interest to secure that the local authority efficiently carries out the functions delegated to it.
§ Mr. J. StuartI understand that applications for the tenancy of houses belonging to the county council are considered by local house-letting committees as 17W houses become available for letting. As the allocation of houses is left by Statute in the hands of the county council them- selves, I should not feel justified in interfering with the manner in which they consider applications.
