§ Mr. Viantasked the Minister of Health what special difficulty arose to prevent the compilation of his Department's statistics relating to diphtheria in the year 1953 with the same degree of accuracy as in the years 1948, 1949 and 1950, when the incidence of the disease was much greater, but the cases given in the immunised and unimmunised classes were made to agree with the total number of cases notified.
§ Miss Hornsby-SmithThe statistics for the years 1948 to 1950 were corrected and adjusted. Those for 1953 were, as my right hon. Friend has already informed80W the hon. Member, only partly adjusted. It is hoped that we shall be able to avoid any discrepancies in future.
