§ Mr. Swinglerasked the Secretary of State for War how many retired officers and other ranks pensioners are drawing retired pay and pensions at rates fixed by the Army warrants of 1877, 1881. and 1887, respectively.
§ Mr. HeadI can trace no awards made under the warrants of 1878 (there was no warrant of 1877), 1881 and 1887 which are still in payment. Some later warrants did, however, continue in force certain of the rates of pensions which had been laid down in those warrants. So far as I can ascertain, four officers and about 100 other ranks are drawing pensions at rates originally fixed in the 1878 warrant, and four and six officers at rates originally fixed in the 1881 and 1887 warrants respectively.
