§ 62. Mr. J. Johnsonasked the Minister of Health whether he has studied the Amsterdam Municipal Scheme of psychiatric service, details of which have been sent to him; and whether he will institute an experiment on these lines to combat the overcrowding of our mental hospitals.
§ Miss Hornsby-SmithThe Amsterdam service has been studied; it differs from our own in the emphasis on certain aspects of care rather than fundamental principles. The continued development of our own system of out-patient and domiciliary services, in which the Amsterdam experience is valuable, is preferable to an experiment on identical lines.
