HC Deb 02 February 1955 vol 536 c124W
111. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many Chinese, by birth, naturalisation, or registration, in Singapore and the Federation of Malaya have formally renounced their right to exercise the privileges of Chinese nationality.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I assume that the hon. Member has in mind those Chinese in Singapore and the Federation of Malaya who are citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies or citizens of the Federation of Malaya. The Government of China have made no legal provision to enable any Chinese to renounce their Chinese nationality either in whole or in part.
