HC Deb 21 December 1955 vol 547 c352W
Lieut. - Colonel Bromley - Davenport

asked the President of the Board of Trade from what industries and trade organisations he has received representations to the effect that the present option under the Merchandise Marks Act to mark goods foreign made as an alternative to the name of the country of origin should be withdrawn; and from what quarters he has received representations expressing a contrary view.

Mr. Walker-Smith

My right hon. Friend has received a variety of views from industrial and trade organisations, as well as from other quarters. It would not be appropriate to disclose in detail the views expressed.
