HC Deb 21 December 1955 vol 547 c324W
61. Dr. Bennett

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what objections there still are to the restoration of a road between Fareham and Lee-on-Solent; what is the nature of the objection by the water company; and what are the prospects of progress with this road.

Mr. Molson

I understand that there is a possibility that the objection from a local resident referred to in my right hon. Friend's Answer to my hon. Friend of 29th November may be withdrawn. The water undertaking has objected that closure of the highways will prejudice access to their apparatus within the airfield, and the Admiralty are trying to make satisfactory arrangements with them and other statutory undertakers in a similar position. Subject to this, my right hon. Friend will be able to make the Order and authorise the highway authority to proceed.
