HC Deb 21 December 1955 vol 547 c333W
Mr. Brockway

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the annual cost of primary and higher education per child for children of different races in each of the Colonies, Protectorates and Trusteeship Territories.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

This information is not available. All higher education is inter-racial and no apportionment of cost between races could be attempted. In territories where children of different races attend different primary schools, it is not possible to arrive at a reliable figure for the cost per child because of the difficulty in obtaining all the necessary details of expenditure by all spending authorities, including voluntary bodies, and in making an accurate allocation of central administrative costs to different types of education.
