HC Deb 14 December 1955 vol 547 c187W
89. Sir W. Wakefield

asked the Postmaster-General what steps he is taking to ensure that when people collect their own post at their own expense in order to save the Post Office time and trouble delivering it, their post is ready for collection.

Mr. Gammans

Normally the mail is ready for private-box holders when they go along to collect it; but at the Western District Post Office, which I believe my hon. Friend may have in mind, acute staff shortages and very heavy mails are causing delays. We shall continue to do all we can to eliminate these delays but as my hon. Friend knows we are faced with great difficulties at the Western District Post Office.
