HC Deb 14 December 1955 vol 547 c190W
101. Mr. Gibson

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether, in view of the worsening traffic congestion on London roads he will consider sanctioning increased capital expenditure for the construction of the ring roads and cross-river tunnels in the London area.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I have already allotted a large share of the road programme to the London area, including the Dartford—Purfleet Tunnel on which work will start next year. So far as any expansion of the programme is concerned, I would refer the hon. Member to what was said by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 26th October.
