HC Deb 14 December 1955 vol 547 c183W
71. Mr. Swingler

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why he refused to provide travelling papers to refugees from the French Cameroons having asylum in the British Cameroons who had been promised a hearing by the Fourth Committee of the United Nations.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

No person has claimed asylum as a refugee in the British Cameroons. The Governor-General of Nigeria was unable to issue passports to three French Cameroonians who applied as they were not British subjects or British protected persons. No other travel documents have been applied for.
