§ 55. Mr. Fletcher-Cookeasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that Miss Alice Hodgson was engaged by the Committee of Managers of Brock-hall Hospital, Langho, near Blackburn, as a shop manageress in 1946, on the basis that she should have the appropriate rate prescribed by her union, the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers, but that she has now been subjected to a standstill in her rate of pay until the lower rate of the Ancillary Staffs Council overtakes it; and if he will take steps to ensure that Miss Hodgson receives the rate of pay which was agreed when she was engaged.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodMiss Hodgson is being paid in accordance with the Whitley agreement which now governs the remuneration of manageresses of hospital shops, and I would not be justified in authorising any other arrangement.
