§ 80. Mr. McKayasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he is aware that tenants are being evicted from council houses for small offences, such as parking their own cars on the road in front of their own homes due to the scarcity of garages, or because the tenant is two or three weeks in arrears for rent; and if he will consider bringing in a Bill to curtail the power of local councils and to place them in the same position as private landlords regarding the eviction of tenants, so that council-house tenants will have as much security as tenants living in privately-owned houses.
§ Mr. SandysThe arrangements for parking motor cars owned by council house tenants can best be left to the local authorities.
