HC Deb 04 April 1955 vol 539 cc72-3W
69. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what arrangements now exist with the United States authorities for the enforcing of affiliation orders against United States Service men who have left this country.

Lord John Hope

As my right hon. Friend the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs explained in the Adjournment debate on 19th March, 1954, the American Service man who has left this country is in the same position, so far as the enforcement of orders of the United Kingdom Courts is concerned, as any other foreigner. As regards disciplinary action by the United States authorities against a Service man outside the United Kingdom who fails to maintain payments under a United Kingdom affiliation order, I have nothing to add to the reply given on 11th November last to a similar Question put by the hon. and learned Member for Kettering (Mr. Mitchison).
