§ 84. Mr. McKibbinasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, in view of the unemployment situation in Northern Ireland, he will consider the possibility of allotting additional work to the Royal Naval Air Yard, Belfast, and so do away with the need for the discharges which have been notified.
§ 85. Lieut.-Colonel Hydeasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, in view of the approaching Christmas season, he will defer the present redundancies in the Royal Naval Yard, Belfast.
§ Mr. DigbyI regret that it has not been found possible to provide additional134W work suitable to the yard. The redundancies already declared cannot, therefore, be deferred. I should add that the number of men to be discharged is 31, which is under 5 per cent. of the present industrial strength of the yard.
