HC Deb 11 November 1954 vol 532 c158W
Mr. Nield

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if, since the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister, any assurance has been obtained that the Japanese Government will implement Article 16 of the Peace Treaty with Japan so that compensation may be granted to those who suffered undue hardship while prisoners of war of Japan.

Mr. Turton

During his visit to this country, Mr. Yoshida assured my right hon. Friend that the Japanese Government would take action to fulfil their obligations. Discussions on this question are proceeding in Tokyo.
