HC Deb 04 November 1954 vol 532 cc80-1W
Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance whether he will introduce regulations to ensure that widows of World War 1 are placed on the same footing as widows of World War 2, as regards eligibility for pension.

Brigadier Smyth

Widows of the two wars were, broadly speaking, placed on the same footing as regards eligibility for pension in February, 1946, where the husband's death took place after 2nd September, 1939, and I cannot hold out any hope of reopening the matter at this stage.
