asked the Minister of Food how many prosecutions of persons operating rings at cattle auctions have taken place since the decontrol of meat; and with what results.

The market for cattle has been highly competitive since decontrol, and I have no evidence that rings are operating. The operation of fatstock markets is being closely watched and if a market were found to be unsatisfactory it would be the subject of a special investigation into its continued suitability as a certification centre for fatstock guarantees.
