HC Deb 26 May 1954 vol 528 c21W
56. Mr. T. Reid

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps have been taken by the Government and Legislature of Barbados to deal with their population problem, as there are about 1,300 people to the square mile in that Colony.

Mr. Lyttelton

A Committee of both Houses of the Legislature is considering the problem of over-population. Meanwhile the Barbados Government is concentrating on increasing production and expanding the economy of the Island.
