HC Deb 07 May 1954 vol 527 c44W
Mr. Maclay

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what local authority associations in Scotland have agreed that the Scottish local health authorities should take over responsibility for the local distribution of welfare foods, other than liquid milk, when the local offices of the Ministry of Food are closed down.

Mr. J. Stuart

I am glad to say that the three Scottish associations have so agreed, and that the individual authorities are now arranging, to undertake this work as part of their duty under the National Health Service (Scotland) Act, 1947, to provide for the care of expectant and nursing mothers and young children.
