HC Deb 17 June 1954 vol 528 cc163-4W
Mr. Ness Edwards

asked the Minister of Works the estimated cost of the work to be done on Caerphilly Castle this year; and when he proposes to allow expenditure for the reconstitution of the Southern Lake.

Mr. Bevins

The estimated cost of work to be done on Caerphilly Castle this financial year is £2,000; it will take two or three years to complete the work now being carried out on the Great Hall. When completed it is my right hon. Friend's intention, if funds are available, to restore the water defences of the Castle, starting with the clearing of moats and conduits as a preliminary to the restoration of the southern lake.
