§ Mr. LytteltonImports of apples from Japan rose from 60 tons in 1951 to 2,827 tons in 1953. The average price for 1953 was 434 Straits dollars (about £50) per ton.
Imports from Australia arrive at a different season and have not been affected. The average price for 1953 was 750 Straits dollars (about £87 10s.) per ton.
