Mr. Russell

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations when all centres of population in the Bechuanaland Protectorate will be equipped with a telephone service.

The population of the Bechuanaland Protectorate is scattered over a wide area. The provision of telephone services to all centres of population would not be practicable, but extensions to telephone communications will be made when the financial resources of the Territory permit.
