HC Deb 25 February 1954 vol 524 c43W
65. Mr. R. E. Winterbottom

asked the Minister of Health how far it is proposed to extend the accommodation in mental hospitals in the Sheffield regional area; and the number of beds which will be provided by the extension.

Miss Hornsby-Smith

The regional hospital board hope to begin six schemes in 1954–55, which will provide 412 additional beds. Their long-term programme includes additional units at four existing hospitals which would provide a further 265 beds; and two new hospitals, each of 800 beds.
