asked the Minister of Labour the average increase in industrial wages since July, 1935.

Between July, 1935, and December, 1953, the average level of weekly wage-rates rose by 150 per cent. The average weekly actual earnings of manual workers in the industries covered by my Department's inquiries rose by 210 per cent. to 220 per cent. between October, 1935, and April, 1953. workers registered in a particular county nor is it possible to say, without expenditure of a disproportionate amount of time, how many agricultural workers in a particular county were called up.
