asked the Minister of Agriculture the number of outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease from 1st October, 1953, to date; and the number during the same period of the previous year.

Fourteen outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease were confirmed between 1st October, 1953, and 8th February, 1954, and there were the same number in the corresponding period of 1952–53.
