HC Deb 10 February 1954 vol 523 c126W
64. Lieut.-Colonel Hyde

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how many Korean nationals, who were sentenced by British and allied tribunals as Japanese war criminals are still imprisoned in Japan; and to what extent their cases are subject to periodic review by the allied military authorities.

Mr. Dodds-Parker

No Korean nationals were sentenced by British military tribunals as war criminals. Her Majesty's Government have no information whether Korean nationals were sentenced by the military tribunals of other Powers. Eleven Japanese nationals who are natives of Korea, who were convicted by British military tribunals, are still serving their sentences in Sugamo prison, Tokyo. The cases of these eleven are subject to review on the same terms as those of other Japanese class "B" and "C" war criminals, as announced in my hon. Friend's reply on l.8th December, 1952, to my hon. Friend the Member for Hertfordshire, South-West (Mr. G. Longden).
