103. Mr. Dugdaleasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he will make a statement on the damage to the guns of H.M.S. "Eagle."
§ Mr. J. P. L. ThomasMinor damage to two saluting guns in H.M.S. "Eagle" was discovered on Friday morning, 5th February. The firing of the salute, to celebrate the second anniversary of the accession of Her Majesty, took place as planned and the ship sailed for Gibraltar on 8th February without interruption to her programme. Admiralty police investigated the incident, but were prevented by the ship's departure from completing their inquiries. The author of the damage has not yet been found. No evidence of any political motive has been discovered.
