HC Deb 10 February 1954 vol 523 cc134-5W
109. Mr. Philip Bell

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General why the postage on air mail letters posted to Her Majesty's Forces in Korea is 6d. if posted in Germany by Her Majesty's subjects stationed in Germany, but only 2½d. if posted in Great Britain.

Mr. Gammans

The object of the 2½d. concessionary rate is primarily to enable families in the United Kingdom to exchange correspondence by means of a light-weight Forces air letter with members of those families serving overseas, at the same cost as an inland letter. The case envisaged by my hon. Friend does not fall within this definition.
