HC Deb 04 February 1954 vol 523 c63W
80. Mr. Finlay

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware of the wider sales of obscene literature; and whether, in view of the serious anti-social results of this, he will circularise chief constables recommending increased police vigilance in the matter.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

The police are I am sure fully aware of the need for vigilance in this matter, and I do not think that any action is called for on my part.
