HC Deb 04 February 1954 vol 523 c69W
95. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Health for an estimate of the annual loss incurred from thefts at hospital stores.

Mr. Iain Macleod

A precise estimate is not possible; but for the year ended 31st March, 1953, notified losses ascribed solely to theft, fraud or arson amounted to £16,000. Other notified losses, including stocktaking discrepancies, amounted to £176,000, but it is not known how much, if any, of this was the result of theft.
