Mr. Stokesasked the Minister of Works whether he is aware that land in the Porta Pia area of Rome is valued at £120 a square metre; and whether he will consider selling the Porta Pia site, which measures 6½ acres, and building the Chancery next door to the Embassy residence instead of at Porta Pia.
§ Mr. BirchI am advised that the figure quoted by the right hon. Gentleman is much too high. As I indicated in reply to a Question last week, the future of the Porta Pia site has not been finally settled.
