HC Deb 21 December 1954 vol 535 cc270-1W
Miss Lee

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many citizens of British Guiana have had their freedom of movement restricted since the constitution was suspended.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Twenty-two.

Miss Lee

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what provision is being made for the dependants of prisoners in British Guiana who have been imprisoned for offences such as unlawful assembly and going beyond restricted limits.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Prisoners can ask for financial assistance for their dependants. Inquiries are then made by the Social Assistance Department and deserving cases are given public assistance in the normal way.
