HC Deb 21 December 1954 vol 535 cc248-9W
26. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland to make a statement on the present provision of hospital and other accommodation in Scotland for elderly sick persons, distinguishing between temporary and chronic cases, and on his plans for extending the present provision for them.

Mr. J. Stuart

It is not possible to make a comprehensive statement within the limits of Question time, but an opportunity of developing the subject in debate may occur on the Motion of which the hon. and learned Member has given notice. Meanwhile, I would assure him that the size and importance of the problems are fully recognised. Regional hospital boards, in conjunction with local authorities and executive councils, are now completing a series of surveys of requirements and resources throughout the country.
