§ 30. Mr. Thorntonasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance whether, in view of the case of Mrs. Clarke, of Little Hulton, details of whose case are in his possession, he will extend the period during which a death grant draft may be cashed; and whether, in view of the circumstances of this case, he will make an ex gratia payment to Mrs. Clarke.
§ Mr. PeakeThe limit of six months for cashing these orders was approved by the National Insurance Advisory Committee in 1952. I have already informed the House that I am asking the Committee to review the conditions for the payment of these grants. Until I get their report, I think we must abide by the terms of the current regulations.
