HC Deb 15 December 1954 vol 535 cc144-5W
61. Mr. Russell

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies to what extent East African sisal is affected by subsidised production of sisal in Brazil.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I am afraid I cannot say to what extent the special measures adopted by the Brazilian Government in respect of their sisal industry have affected the market for East African sisal. As my hon. Friend knows Brazilian products is less than 30,000 tons while British East Africa production is 204,000 tons.
