HC Deb 14 December 1954 vol 535 cc117-8W
91. Mr. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what financial assistance he has given, or is prepared to give, to local authorities for expenditure incurred in meeting exceptional consequences of recent storms and floods in Scotland.

Mr. J. Stuart

As the hon. Member has been informed, there are no funds at present at my disposal from which such assistance could be given and the evidence available does not suggest that Parliament could be asked to vote a special grant. My Department will, however, be very willing to discuss the position in any particular locality with the local authority concerned.
