HC Deb 14 December 1954 vol 535 c118W
92. Mr. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many farms in South-West Scotland area are still without an electricity supply; what progress has been made in the past year to provide a supply; and what is the expected progress during the current year.

Mr. J. Stuart

I am informed by the South-West Scotland Electricity Board that at 31st October, 1954, some 2,250 (or 23 per cent.) of the farms in their area were still without an electricity supply; during the year ended 31st March, 1954, an additional 675 farms were connected; the number of connections during the current year is expected to be between 500 and 600, of which some 300 were connected up to 31st October.
