HC Deb 14 December 1954 vol 535 c115W
81. Mr. Woodburn

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps are being taken to effect a purification of the River Forth; and whether a target date has yet been set by the board to this end.

Mr. J. Stuart

The Forth River Purification Board has been established and will shortly be functioning. Their first task will be to appoint a river inspector and to make a survey of the rivers in their area, which must necessarily take some time. On the results of this survey the Board will formulate their bye-laws and future policy for the prevention of pollution.
