HC Deb 13 December 1954 vol 535 c87W
68. Mr. Page

asked the Attorney- General the average time in the High Court between lodging a bill of costs for taxation and the taxation of that bill 12 months ago; and the average time now for the same process.

The Attorney-General

I understand that my hon. Friend's inquiry relates to the taxation of bills in the Supreme Court Taxing Office. A year ago the average delay was four months in the Masters' cases and 2½ months in the Principal Clerks' cases; the corresponding figures are now three months and one month, respectively. The delays are still excessive, and my noble Friend the Lord Chancellor expects to see a further reduction in these periods, as a result of measures which he has taken.
