asked the Minister of Education whether he is satisfied with the provision of books in maintained and assisted schools; and what action he is taking to keep the supply up to the necessary standard.

No; it is difficult to generalise, but the position needs to be improved in some areas, particularly as regards school libraries. This is primarily the responsibility of individual local education authorities, and I have asked them to look at their arrangements.
