Mr. Champion

asked the Minister of Health what steps he proposes to take to overcome the serious shortage of institutional places for mental defectives under the age of 16 in Derbyshire.

Arrangements are being made to provide an additional 60 places at Aston Hall, Derbyshire, within the next two years. Other schemes are in hand or in preparation which will help to meet the serious shortage and these will be proceeded with as quickly as circumstances permit.
