asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will now make an announcement about the investigation into a proposal for a road bridge over the present Forth railway bridge.

I am glad to announce that the following gentlemen have accepted my invitation to form a panel to advise me on this matter:

Professor J. F. Baker, O.B.E., M.A., Sc.D., Professor of Mechanical Sciences and Head of the Department of Engineering, Cambridge University.

Mr. Gilbert Roberts, B.Sc., M.I.C.E., of Messrs. Freeman, Fox and Partners.

Mr. H. Shirley Smith, O.B.E., B.Sc., M.I.C.E., of the Cleveland Bridge and Engineering Company Limited.

The panel will hold its first meeting next week.
