§ Mr. Masonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what reports of the attacks on the Reverend Samuel Heap in Ubaté, Colombia, are yet forth-coming; and if he will publish the reports.
§ Mr. NuttingMr. Heap was involved in two incidents, at Ubaté and Chiquinquira, respectively. On the former, Her Majesty's Ambassador at Bogatá has received no report from the Colombian Government despite repeated representations. On the latter incident, a report has been received but is in many respects unsatisfactory. The Ambassador has been instructed to press again strongly for full and satisfactory reports on both questions and in particular for all possible steps to be taken to ensure that such attacks will not recur. My right hon. Friend would prefer not to publish these reports, but the House will be kept informed of the results of the Ambassador's representations.
§ Mr. Masonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps have been taken, through the Embassy, to protect the Reverend Samuel Heap in Ubate, Colombia, from further attacks.
§ Mr. NuttingMr. Heap now lives at Chiquinquirá. At the instance of Her Majesty's Ambassador a special police detachment was sent to guard his house after the incident on 15th July. Her Majesty's Embassy have since received no further complaints from Mr. Heap.
